T’boli Handcrafted Bell Chime

This bell is made from recycled brass and cast from beeswax. Its traditional design is made more beautiful by the handcrafted fabric tassels by the women of Lingap Center, located in Biñan Laguna, Philippines.

Among the T’bolis, an indigenous tribe living in the highlands of Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, Philippines, bell making is one of the traditional arts for this musical tribe. Bells have been used to guide the way and ward off evil spirits. They hang these bells by the entrance of their homes.
